The history of Kettering University is closely linked to the development of the American automobile industry. When Albert Sobey founded the school on October 20, 1919, under the name of the “Motor Trade School,” his goal was to establish an evening school for local industrial partnerships in Flint, with the aim of training and developing people for industrial careers.
